Everest View Trek is designed for those, who wish to see Everest and explore the village lifestyle in the lower Khumbu or Everest region with an average of 3-4 hours of walking per day.
It is one of the best trips for those, who want to see the world’s highest mountain Everest with a little bit of Himalayan trekking experience staying in the deluxe lodge (optional).
Itinerary
Meet and transport to the hotel when you arrive at the airport. In the afternoon, you can choose for an escorted stroll around Thamel and Kathmandu’s local streets. In the evening, there will be a welcome meal with a traditional Nepalese cultural program.

After breakfast, begin touring in Kathmandu, including the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Kathmandu Durbar Square and Swyambhunath Stupa. The palaces of the medieval Kings who ruled over the Kathmandu Kingdom may be seen in the Kathmandu Durbar Square region. Swayambhu means “the self-existent” and is known as the Monkey Temple by international visitors because to the enormous number of monkeys that live in this region. Swayambunath Stupa is supposed to be almost 2,000 years old and to represent wisdom. The painted eyeballs on all four sides represent Buddha’s all-seeing omnipotence. It is a sacred Buddhist site visited by people from all around the world. In the afternoon, you will have a briefing and discussion about your excursion.

Transfer to the domestic airport early in the morning to board a spectacular mountain flight to Lukla (2840m), which will take around 30 minutes. The flight to Lukla will be a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. When we arrive in Lukla, we will begin our 3-hour walk to Phakding, passing via the picturesque Chaurikharka hamlet on the left.
The route continues up to Chheplung (2660m), Thado Koshigaon (2580m), from where you can see Mt. Kusum Khangkaru (6367m), Nuring (2492m), and Phakding. The route to Phakding takes you through the verdant environment of Nepal’s lower Everest area, with breathtaking views of local communities and green farmlands, to the charming hamlet of Phakding. We don’t go much on the first day of our hike and stay at Phakding village.

After breakfast, begin hiking through a lovely pine forest to the Sagarmatha (Everest) National Park and Monjo Village through the Dudh Koshi River and the Hillary Suspension Bridge. After passing through Phakding hamlet, don’t miss the first glimpse of Mt. Kongde Ri (6186m) on your right. The route continues with some up and down till we reach Bengkar village on the river’s corner and Monjo village on the river’s left side. Monju hamlet is located on the outskirts of the Sagarmatha (Everest) National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Nepal.
We stop at the checkpoint, enter, and present the papers to the authorities before continuing our walk through Jorsalle hamlet (2740m), Large Dovan (2830m), and through one of the highest bridges in the Everest zone over the Dudhkosi River. Then, after roughly an hour of climbing, you’ll arrive at Chautara, Everest’s first viewpoint. After nearly an hour of strenuous ascent, you reach Namche Bazar, the Sherpa people’s capital. Namche Bazar is a commercial post for the Sherpa people. It is also an excellent market for travelers looking to buy traditional locally manufactured crafts.
After breakfast, we take advantage of the chance to visit the Sherpa Culture Museum and Photo Gallery (just above Namche Bazar) to learn about the Sherpa people’s cultural traditions, way of life, and history. This location also has the greatest views of Mt. Everest, Kongde, Kusum Kangru, Thamserku, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and Nuptse. Then climb 1.5 hours to Everest View Hotel, passing by Syangboche Airport (3700m), which is considered to be the highest airport in the world, however it is now not in operation.
We continue climbing to Mt. Everest View Hotel, which offers spectacular views of Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thaamserku, Kongde, and other peaks. Then we were led into Khumjung village, where we mingled with locals and learned about the culture, traditions, and way of life of the Sherpa people who live in Nepal’s Everest area. You may go to Khumjung High School and connect with the professors and students. Then return to Namche Bazar. Today’s overall activity time will be around 6 hours.

With a leisurely breakfast in the morning, take in the vista of Mt. Everest from the hotel. Then descend for 1.5 hours/ 3 kilometers to Namche Bazar. Descend the valley along the Dudh Koshi River from Namche Bazar to Monjo (2835), a 6km descent that takes around 3 hours. The descent from Namche to Monjo is steep and takes around 4 hours. The beautiful Monjo town is located on the Dudhkosi River, on the edge of the Khumbu region’s Sagarmatha National Park.

Today is our last day of hiking from Monjo to Lukla, which is 13 kilometers and takes around 4.5 hours following the lower altitude path in the Khumbu area. We go through numerous Sherpa towns, admiring the lush canopy of rhododendron and pine trees. There will also be several monasteries that reflect distinct Buddhist cultures and customs. When we get in Lukla, we will have some downtime at the hotel before flying back to Kathmandu the next day.

Flying from Lukla to Kathmandu takes 40 minutes and puts you at the domestic terminal of the airport. When you arrive in Kathmandu, proceed to your hotel and spend the afternoon at leisure. Be aware that there is a significant possibility of flight cancellation, so plan accordingly. Making one additional day would be a sensible decision.

The Everest View Trek is a short and scenic trekking route in the Khumbu region of Nepal, designed for those who want to enjoy panoramic views of Mount Everest (8,848m) and other Himalayan peaks without going all the way to Everest Base Camp. It’s a perfect alternative for travelers with limited time or who prefer moderate hiking.
The trek starts with a short and scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (2,860m). From Lukla, the trail passes through Phakding, Namche Bazaar, and Everest View Hotel—the highest-located luxury hotel in the world offering stunning views of Mt. Everest. The trek usually ends back in Lukla.
The Everest View Trek typically takes 5 to 7 days, depending on your pace and itinerary. Some trekkers extend the journey to include Khumjung, Tengboche Monastery, or Thame Village.
The highest point of the trek is around 3,880 meters (12,729 feet) at Everest View Hotel, located above Namche Bazaar.
The trek is considered easy to moderate. It involves uphill and downhill walking on well-marked trails, suitable for beginners and families. However, due to the altitude, proper acclimatization is still important.
No, prior trekking experience is not necessary. Anyone with average fitness and a love for hiking can complete this trek comfortably.

The best seasons are:
Spring (March–May): Warm weather, rhododendron blooms, and clear skies
Autumn (September–November): Stable weather, excellent visibility, and crisp mountain views
Winter (December–February) offers quiet trails but cold nights, while the monsoon (June–August) brings heavy rain and cloud cover.
Altitude sickness is rare but possible, as the trek goes above 3,000 meters. Proper acclimatization at Namche Bazaar (3,440m) is essential. Walk slowly, drink plenty of water, and avoid alcohol.
