Itinerary
Your trek begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, passing through winding mountain roads, terraced fields, rivers, village settlements, and green hills. The journey offers beautiful views of Ganesh Himal and local countryside landscapes.
The trail starts by crossing the Bhote Koshi River and gradually climbs along the Langtang Khola. You walk through forests of rhododendron and bamboo, with the possibility of spotting red pandas. The day ends at Lama Hotel, a peaceful stop in the middle of the forest.
After breakfast, the trail continues uphill through dense forests and narrow valleys. You reach Ghoda Tabela, where the valley starts to open and mountain views appear. From here, a gentle walk brings you to Langtang Village, a traditional Tamang settlement rich in Buddhist culture.
Today’s trek is short but scenic. You follow a gradual path past yak pastures, chortens, and prayer walls as the mountains grow closer. Upon reaching Kyanjin Gompa, you can explore the ancient monastery, visit the cheese factory, and enjoy the stunning surroundings.
This day is reserved for acclimatization and exploring the higher viewpoints.
Kyanjin Ri (4,984m): A 3–4 hour steep hike offering spectacular sunrise views.
Tsergo Ri (4,984m): A longer, more challenging climb with 360-degree mountain panoramas.
Return to Kyanjin Gompa for the night.
You retrace your steps back, descending through Langtang Valley. The walk is easier and faster as you move downhill, passing yak herders, forests, and rivers until you reach Lama Hotel again for the night.
Today you descend to the river and then climb through forests to reach Thulo Syabru, a beautiful village with traditional houses, wide terraced fields, and stunning hillside views.
The trail climbs through peaceful forests rich in wildlife and rhododendron blooms in spring. Shin Gompa is known for its monastery and cheese factory. It’s a quiet place perfect for relaxing and enjoying the mountain atmosphere.
A gradual uphill walk takes you to Laurebina. The views of Langtang Himal, Ganesh Himal, and surrounding peaks become more open and dramatic as you ascend.
Today’s trail leads to the sacred lakes of Gosaikunda. You pass Saraswati Kunda and Bhairav Kunda before reaching the main Gosaikunda Lake. This holy site is an important pilgrimage destination for Hindus and Buddhists and is surrounded by high mountains.
This is one of the most challenging but rewarding days. You start early to climb the Laurebina La Pass, the highest point of the trek. After enjoying the incredible mountain scenery, you descend through rocky trails and forested ridges to reach Ghopte.
The trail travels through forests, meadows, and ridges until you enter the Helambu region. Melamchi Gaon welcomes you with charming Hyolmo culture, traditional homes, and peaceful surroundings.
