The Kathmandu–Syabrubesi–Kyanjing Gompa–Syabru–Shin Gompa–Kathmandu Trek offers a beautiful journey through the heart of the Langtang region, known for its short access from Kathmandu and its rich blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage. This trek begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, the gateway to Langtang. From here, the trail gradually climbs through lush forests, terraced fields, and traditional Tamang villages before entering the serene Langtang Valley. The highlight of the journey is Kyanjing Gompa, a peaceful high-altitude village surrounded by dramatic Himalayan peaks, glaciers, and iconic viewpoints like Kyanjing Ri and Tserko Ri. After experiencing the spiritual ambiance and breathtaking landscapes, the route continues toward the charming village of Syabru and then climbs to the quiet, monastery-rich settlement of Shin Gompa, known for its cheese factory and beautiful mountain surroundings. The trek concludes with a descent to Dhunche followed by a comfortable drive back to Kathmandu. Itinerary
Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu toward Syabrubesi. The route passes through Trishuli, beautiful villages, terraced fields, and hilly landscapes. Overnight at Syabrubesi.
The trek starts by crossing a river bridge and entering a lush, forested trail filled with rhododendron and bamboo. The path gradually ascends to Lama Hotel. Overnight stay.
A scenic walk along the Langtang Khola takes you through dense forests and open pastures. You’ll reach Ghoda Tabela and continue to Langtang Village. Overnight at a tea house.
Short but scenic trekking day. The trail climbs gradually to Kyanjing Gompa, a beautiful village surrounded by snowy peaks. Explore the monastery and local cheese factory.
This acclimatization day allows you to hike up to Kyanjing Ri (4,773 m) or Tserko Ri (4,984 m) for stunning sunrise views over the Himalayas. Return to Kyanjing Gompa.
Retrace the trail back down the valley toward Lama Hotel, then head toward the charming Syabru Village with traditional Tamang culture.
Climb through beautiful forests and reach Shin Gompa, also known as Chandanbari. Visit the famous cheese factory and monastery.
Descend slowly through pine and rhododendron forests toward Dhunche. Overnight accommodation available.
After breakfast, take a scenic drive back to Kathmandu, concluding your Langtang cultural and natural journey.
This trek is considered moderate. The trails involve gradual ascents, forest walks, and some steep sections, but no technical climbing skills are required. Good fitness is recommended.
